My favorite backyard buddy: the Titmouse. These little spitfires are not only the perfect balance of size and speed but they’re super cute when they flirt with each other. Defensive squawks turn into small, loving chirps.

Having fun with some macro photos today.
Twisted
🐊 The alligators are really not enjoying the colder temperatures. Of the four I saw on today’s walk, all we’re looking downright pouty.
A cold day of rain among the old and twisted oaks.
Now the house is ready for Christmas.
Fishing. The late sunset made it the trees reflection look like fall colors for a few minutes.
Winter creates the best skies in Florida.
Cold temperatures mean I get a warm lap buddy for my morning meetings.
Another lovely day in the garden.
I’m thankful that I get to celebrate my favorite holiday 🦃 and my kid becoming a teenager on the same day! Happy thanksgiving everyone.

Spotted a new visitor this morning as an Eastern Wood-Pewee came around to eat some of our flying insects.
@davidrmunson reminded me of an October day in Japan when the weather cleared enough to see Mt. Fuji from our apartment. I was so excited that I ran down the street in my pj’s to capture the moment. Having this photo now is more important than neighbors disapproving looks then.
Reflections in the high water.
Cooler mornings means more excitement.
Mother Nature still tops our technology. This is my phone not being able to handle the extreme color from one of my mother’s orchids at golden hour.
One of the neighborhood’s great egrets enjoying some fishing in the high waters caused by tropical storm Eta.
“Maybe we’ll get the birds if we work together.”
Carolina wren is enjoying the new seed bell.
Walking through the cypress dome before hurricane Eta takes over the week with storms.
“We exist in a state of continuous and conscious attention triage, which can be exhausting, disorienting, and demoralizing.”
🇺🇸🗳🇺🇸 Every day starts as a blank page, even today.
🐊 The alligators and turtles were in agreement on today’s amazing weather. 🐢
🌱 I love following all of the tiny veins running parallel through our Prayer Plant (Maranta).
